It was Batman that started the Elseworlds titles, and to date, he has the most Elseworld stories written for him.
There is just something about the whole legend of Batman that lends itself so well to "alternate histories". I commented about this in the only article I have ever written (Ramblings of a Batman Fan), once you read it, you will probably say "...and for good reason, take that man's pen away from him!"
