Syndicate hood Jack Napier, though he is a member of the underworld, is a devoted husband to his ailing wife. His ill-gotten gains are used (mostly) for finding a cure for her. A rival syndicate that Jack owes money to kidnaps his wife and holds her hostage in the Axis Chemical factory. Here's the Elseworlds twist: Not only does Jack get doused in the toxic chemicals, the fumes kill his wife. Now an insane (and vengeful) Joker, he plots to kill all the members of the rival syndicate-----this Mr. Freeze-type story (avenging his wife's death) should open certain avenues of creativity.
